The skyrocketing pace of science and technology growth is bringing a lot of opportunities and solutions to the existing problems, including those of environment, food, healthcare and many others. At the same time, recent developments in cognitive robotics, machine learning and unprecedented assigning of citizenship and rights to robots have pushed towards re-thinking the ethical, legal, socio-economic challenges and threats that they pose. To stay at the verge of the technological revolution and keep the level of EU competitiveness, the European Union has made the first steps towards forming the EU Artificial Intelligence Policy by creating High-Level Expert Group on AI in 2018, forming the ethical guidelines and communicating common EU stance on AI. EDDA is following and contributing to the work of the European Commission and High-Level Expert Group on AI and assess the policy developments and evolving practices in the area and their possible transfer to the neighboring and partner countries.
