EU and African Union will join forces on Digital Single Market
For the last two decades the EU has been active in the promotion of digital technologies and services in partner countries, but has lacked an appropriate framework for mainstreaming digital technologies, contributing to the achievement of the SDGs and ensuring an effective delivery. The Digital4Development approach aims to promote information and communication technologies in developing countries as powerful enablers of growth, and to better mainstream digital solutions in development. It is consistent with other relevant EU policies and is guided by international frameworks, such as the UN's 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its Addis Ababa Action Agenda for financing development. EDDA is contributing to the EU Digital4Development policies and aims to ensure that EU digital policies in partner countries are fair, inclusive and gender-transformative.
